Leslie Starsoneck

Leslie StarsoneckLeslie Starsoneck has consulted with a wide range of non-profits organizations over the last decade with an emphasis on board governance, assessment of organizational strengths, and program development and evaluation.  She currently serves as a national Senior Trainer for Saint Wall Street, LLC assisting grantees with developing cases for support using Saint Wall Street’s Program Return on Investment model.   She has continuing roles with the North Carolina Pediatrics Society’s Fostering Health program and with the UNC Chapel Hill led Project NO REST, North Carolina’s implementation of a Federal Grant to address human trafficking.  She also consults as part of the network for the John Rex Endowment and the NorthSky Network in Traverse City, MI.  Leslie established her consulting practice in 2004 and enjoys the variety of opportunities it brings.  She is focused on helping non-profits make the most impact possible.

Leslie began her career working in non-profit organizations over 25 years ago, first in juvenile and adult corrections and later in domestic violence service organizations and public policy.  Leslie was the first director of the NC Domestic Violence Commission, later merged with the NC Council for Women.  She has held executive, public policy, and program director positions with statewide organizations in North Carolina and Massachusetts.  Most recently she served as the interim executive director for NC Child.

Leslie earned an M.A. in Social Work Administration, Policy and Planning from the University of Pittsburgh and a B.A. in Psychology from State University of New York at Potsdam.  She most recently completed the Excellence in Non Profit Governance certificate at Harvard Business School in 2014.   She has been a Visiting Professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s School of Social Work, and continues to enjoy a role as guest lecturer at the School of Law and School of Public Health.  Leslie served as Vice-Chair on the board of the Lucy Daniels Center in Raleigh and is the co-founder of a community based giving circle.

Leslie lives in Raleigh with her husband, Paul.
