Sarah worked as a Dance/movement therapist (DMT) for over 20 years. Dance/Movement Therapy is in the family of Creative Arts Therapies, a form of psychotherapy grounded in body/mind connection. Sarah’s practice specialized in group dynamics and group therapy for adult and adolescent psychiatric patients. She served as a chapter leader for the Am. Dance Therapy Association (ADTA) in Georgia and North Carolina. She was on the Board of Directors for the ADTA for 8 years. She presented many workshops across the US. She was co-Conference Chair for the ADTA conference 2001: A Dance Odyssey. When she moved to Greensboro, NC she continued her work as a Dance Therapist for Cone Health behavioral health unit. She expanded her role from Dance Therapist, to Case Manager, to Program Coordinator.
She was certified as a Business Coach through CoachU in 2001. Sarah transitioned to Organizational Effectiveness where she designed and delivered leadership development program for Cone Health. The focus on the training program was Communication, Conflict Resolution, Change Management and Coaching skills. Sarah used her and creative process skills and expertise in group dynamics to teach, facilitate, and coach leaders and their teams. She expanded her work in the community with leading engaging Board retreats for many of Greensboro nonprofits. She has expanded her leadership development classes for the Connecticut Hospital Association and coaching several Connecticut hospital and physician leaders. In 2022, she retired from Cone after 32 years, and started her own consulting business, Ampersandbox Coaching & Consulting.
