We Are Armstrong McGuire

Shannon Williams
Managing Partner

Every day we walk alongside others, nonprofit leaders navigating big decisions, boards wrestling with complexity, organizations on the cusp of change. The work is deeply human, and it requires the very best of us. Which is why we come together.

Last week, the Armstrong McGuire team gathered in person, traveling from across the country to reconnect, center ourselves in our values and strengthen the relationships that make our work possible. I have to say, it was special. We slowed down. We listened. We laughed and we refocused on our shared purpose.

A central theme of our time together was understanding ourselves better as professionals and teammates. Through reflection on work styles and blind spots, we explored how individual strengths show up in a team context and how it impacts the work we do with our partners. That kind of awareness enables trust and trust is essential to accomplish challenging, meaningful work alongside one another and alongside our clients.

There is an old saying that there is no "I" in team. That may be true, but we were reminded that there is AM in TEAM.

Each member of the Armstrong McGuire (AM) team brings deep nonprofit expertise, battle-tested perspective and unyielding care into this work. Time together as a teAM reminds us of our shared experiences and reinforces the trust that helps us collaborate well and serve our clients fully.

We also enjoyed spending time looking ahead. Conversations about AI centered not on tools alone, but on intention. How do we continue to adapt thoughtfully while keeping our work strategic and relational? How do we ensure innovation supports clarity, connection and impact rather than distracting from it?

Again and again, our conversations returned to a simple question: How do we want our clients to feel when they finish a project with us? Supported. Confident. Heard. Leading with more clarity than when they began. Moving forward as a unit.

Those outcomes are the result of a teAM that is aligned, reflective and rooted in our shared values: Integrity. Experience. Relationships. Results.

As our time together came to a close, individual reflection gave way to collective voice. A reminder that We Are Armstrong McGuire.

In a sector defined by complexity and constant movement, coming together allows us to pause, recalibrate and move forward with intention as a teAM. That is why we gather. And, it is why we are proud to do this work, together.

What Do the Olympics and Nonprofit Collaboration Have in Common?
Thursday, February 26, 2026

I watched at least a few minutes of the Winter Olympics every day of the Games. I was continually struck by the resilience of the athletes—some who were competing as teams, but many who were competing as individuals.
