Introducing Our New Senior Advisors

We are thrilled to welcome Karen Parker and Mickey Holt to the Armstrong McGuire family. As you will read below each bring unique expertise and perspectives that strengthen our team and most importantly our clients.

About Karen Parker

Karen Parker has been a driving force in governmental and social justice organizations for the past 35 years, across North Carolina, Georgia, and Texas. In her roles as chief executive, interim executive and board chair. Karen became a subject matter expert in domestic violence. Serving as President and CEO of Safe Alliance in Charlotte for nine years, she led the expansion of the Victim Assistance Court program, created the 24/7 Greater Charlotte Hope Line which offers domestic violence, sexual assault and parenting support and raised over $8M to build the Clyde and Ethel Dickson Domestic Violence Shelter

In 2009, Karen was appointed by Governor Beverly Perdue to chair the North Carolina Domestic Violence Commission. She is a past board co-chair of the North Carolina Coalition against Domestic Violence and the current board co-chair of Race Matters for Juvenile Justice. Her contributions have been recognized with several awards, including the Peter Gilcrest Lifetime Achievement award from the Crime Victim’s Coalition in 2017, and in 2022 she received the Dogwood Award from Attorney General Josh Stein in recognition of her work to make communities safer, stronger, and healthier 

About Mickey Holt

After a successful career as a for-profit executive, Mickey transitioned to nonprofit management over a decade ago. As a CPA by training, Mickey has held several key leadership roles including Chief Finance Officer, Chief Administrative Officer, and Interim Chief Executive Officer with organizations such as the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina and Urban Ministries of Wake County. Mickey brings invaluable expertise in financial forecasting, guiding our clients in their strategies and processes.
