Dr. Margaret A. Brunson Joins Armstrong McGuire as Senior Advisor

With the continued strategic expansion of our service to North Carolina’s and the region’s nonprofit and philanthropic sectors, Armstrong McGuire & Associates is excited to welcome organizational leadership expert Margaret A. Brunson to our team.

For more than 15 years, Margaret has developed leadership capacity across the public, private and nonprofit sectors, providing coaching and consulting services to individuals, groups, and organizations. Her career includes health care administrative roles with Alliance Health and Duke University Health System as well as teaching public service leadership to MPA students at the UNC School of Government. She founded Illumined Leadership Solutions in 2015.

A native North Carolinian, Margaret earned a BA in psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Master of Public Administration from North Carolina Central University, and PhD in leadership studies from North Carolina A&T State University.

“We are thrilled to have Margaret join our growing team. She is a true Tar Heel who understands the complexities of our state, but also brings her experiences from around the country to help our clients deepen their community impact,” said the firm’s co-founder and principal, Bert Armstrong.

In addition, Margaret is a writer, sought-after speaker, and published author. In 2012, she published New Growth: How My Hair Saved My Life.

Margaret said, “I am energized by the chance to work alongside great professionals who are committed to inspiring change and creating positive impact in the community. When I imagined a team that aligned with my personal and professional values, Armstrong McGuire was the perfect fit.”
