Guiding Family Connects International Into Its Next Chapter

Working in partnership with Senior Advisor Staci Barfield and Certified Interim Executive Fawn Pattison, the Family Connects International (FCI) Board of Directors recently named Jade Woodard its new President & CEO, exemplifying the power of a well-crafted and executed leadership transition.

With a deep commitment to preventing child maltreatment and strengthening families, Jade brings a personal and professional journey rooted in mission and impact.

Jade said, “It was the synergy of my experience leading an organization through growth and facilitating transformation, and my passion for the mission, that drew me to FCI.”

Jade's placement at FCI reflects the heart of Armstrong McGuire’s approach: ensuring every search is grounded in mission alignment, clarity, and care for all involved. Throughout the process, our team worked closely with FCI’s Board Chair, Dr. Jonathan Kotch, and the Search Committee to guide a collaborative and strategic search effort.

As a leader with firsthand knowledge of FCI’s work, Jade stood out for her visionary leadership, experience managing rapid growth, and commitment to nurturing a healthy work culture. Her transition into the role has already been energizing for her and her team. Jade said, "Everyone is ready to harness the potential of Family Connects. I’m excited to lead a team that’s so talented, passionate, and committed.”

FCI, now active in 64 sites across 21 states, is poised to expand its evidence-based, universal home-visiting model for newborn families. Jade’s leadership is aligned with FCI’s next chapter: building strategic growth, strengthening partnerships, and championing maternal and child health as a national standard.

Facilitating Meaningful Transition with Care

While Staci, Jonathan, and the Board were facilitating the recruitment and search portion of the transition, Certified Interim Executive Fawn Pattison, was readying FCI for its next leader. Working closely with the staff and the board, Fawn focused on providing Jade a smooth on ramp to her new role.

When asked what they would share with other prospective candidates or board chairs who are part of a transition process Jade and Jonathan offered the following:

“Lead with passion, be real, and do your research,” Jade advises other job seekers. “Bring your full self to the process, it helps ensure the fit is right on both sides.”

From the board perspective, Jonathan shared, "Be open to new ideas. Take risks. Involve as many stakeholders as possible. Be a good listener, but be decisive when necessary."
