Is It the Right Time?

I recently traveled to California - a 3-hour time difference from North Carolina. Each morning my inbox was full from people on the east coast who had been up working for three hours before me. My usual 9 and 10 a.m. weekly conference calls took place at 6 and 7 a.m. I realize we live in a global economy and some of my friends who work for companies with offices in India or Australia work at all hours to connect with clients and coworkers.

Is a Foundation a Foundation a Foundation--How to Categorize Donations?

I work with clients to create development plans to ensure interdependence from one or two sources of income like events or publicly funded grants. The question “How do we label different types of donors?” always comes up.

Make "It" Worth Your Donor's Time

My family took a trip to Washington, DC this past weekend to attend a wonderful performance of "Bye Bye Birdie" at my niece's high school (shout out to Jill Ford for her outstanding portrayal of Rosie). It was a special evening and worth the hours hours of stop and go traffic to DC and back.

Do We Really Care About Our Donors?

I admit it! I am not a big fan of the season of award shows celebrating great movies, television shows, and music. When they roll out the red carpet, I grab my remote control and find something – anything – else to watch.
