Three weeks ago, I started meeting clients in person that I have only known virtually for the last year. I am filling my gas tank up more than usual and am recalling how to be productive while driving some distance to a meeting. You might be back at your workplace full-time or a mix of in-person and remote. The pandemic rocked your world, and you realize now how important personal time is, how important family time is, and the importance of work/life balance. After reanalyzing your professional life, you may realize that the balance should really be a LIFE/work balance – but how do you make it your new normal? You feel like you are working double time and you are trying to be mindful and continue to do the yoga you took up last year to keep yourself sane.
Would you call yourself a risk taker? An adventurer? Would you describe your nonprofit as adventurous and determined? As the world opens up to the vaccinated, many of you are making vacation plans. You are ready for new adventures, to travel, to spend time with loved ones you have not been able to see in person. Maybe you want to try ziplining or hang gliding or another bold and adventurous activity? Maybe your mind is saying “go for it” and you want to take in all that life offers. Do you feel the same way about your nonprofit?
As I look out my window, I see daffodils in bloom and tulips starting to pop up – bulbs I planted in November. Spring is a time for new beginnings, spring cleaning, planning summer vacations, and perhaps seeking a career change. Many have had time to do some soul searching during COVID-19 and as we move forward with vaccinating the country there are many job opportunities in the nonprofit sector.
Donors are making a concerted effort to research a nonprofit before making a donation. Recent stakeholder interviews as part of feasibility study show that donors who have been affected by the pandemic may have less money to give away. Most first-time donors take the time to research an organization. Researching a nonprofit through monitoring groups helps current donors decide who will receive an annual donation and who might be left out this year. If a donor can’t find information about a nonprofit readily through monitoring groups, they may not feel confident about making a contribution.
Whether you’re ready to expand your organizational capacity and move forward with purpose, or just want to talk shop, we’d love to connect.
