How can I help?

That overwhelming feeling of wanting to help. It washes over you.I know you. You have felt this too. Many of you reading this blog are working and volunteering in the nonprofit sector. You are good people. You are even what we could term professionally good people. You are good people who many times tell yourselves you should be doing more.

Making the Case

Does your organization have a Case for Support or a Case for Giving? Armstrong McGuire assists nonprofits with the creation of these important fundraising tools every day. A case for support is a must for a capital campaign, a major gifts campaign, an endowment campaign and for your ongoing annual giving opportunities. Developing, refining and sharing of your case for support is an important piece of any resource development plan.

A Pineapple, an Orange, and a Grape

Recently I spent the day facilitating a strategic planning session with a foundation board. As is my custom, I brought buckets of balls and toys which may seem frivolous, but actually they are an integral part of the day. The playthings are key ingredients in keeping everyone focused and in helping the group hold themselves accountable to the ground rules. And, they are just plain fun. Invite me to your next strategic planning session and I will show you what I mean!

Professional Troublemaking

Speaking out about unjust conditions – to friends, family, on social media – is the American way. Pointing to unfair treatment of individuals, groups, communities, or the environment is an important part of being civically engaged. As a nonprofit leader there is an added obligation to not just speak out, but to advocate and effect change in policy and systems.
